Notary Blog: Two New Residents at Haywood Mall

So a couple of new South Carolina residents just casually strolled into Haywood Mall and needed a document notarized…

No, that’s not really how it happened.  The call rang in at 5:32 p.m. as GreenvilleNotary.com Owner Sonita M. Leak sat at Haywood Mall to study for her upcoming Notary Public Certification course through the National Notary Association.   The signers, two weeks into Greenville, South Carolina, needed notary service ASAP for an out-of-state transaction.  Only thing needed was a notary’s signature on two documents for the signatures of the couple.

Often, I receive emails from different people about what we CAN and CANNOT do as Notaries Public here in South Carolina.  As it is a given, we are not attorneys, however, as a Notary Public Signing Agent, companies rely on me to complete extra duties that are NOT synonymous with being an attorney.  Some question whether we work in the capacity of a loan officer.  We do not.  We, by law, are prohibited from discussing details of documents, what they mean or interpretations. Hence, the photo represented as our pledge as Notary Signing Agents.

This service was performed on the evening of Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Haywood Mall, 700 Haywood Road, Greenville, SC 29607.

Haywood Mall is a Simon Mall.
