Notary Public Blog of Sonita M. Leak, CNSA | When am I Supposed to Have My Title Signature Notarized? A Helpful Tidbit

I see Sellers and Buyers of vehicles from week to week, from small compact cars to boat motors, handling interstate transactions, mostly. People call with questions. When people call with questions, of course I refer them to their local Department of Motor Vehicles. However, there are some things signers should know when dealing with these interstate transactions, especially when they’ve made a special trip many miles away to buy or sell a vehicle.

There are a handful of states that require the Seller in a transaction’s signature to be notarized. It just so happens that our lovely neighbor North Carolina is one of them. Ohio is yet another.

You can find a list of each state and its requirements HERE.

As previously stated, if you have additional questions, place an inquiry to your local Department of Motor Vehicles.

Sincerely,

Sonita M. Leak
