Did you know that in the State of South Carolina, when you have documents requiring witness signatures, the notary can act as one of the witnesses? Yes, it’s true! There are some states that require more than two signatures, but here in dear South Carolina, some documents (including, but not limited to Powers of Attorney and Wills), need to be witnessed by AT LEAST two. If you have any questions in regard to your document, please seek the advice of an attorney, as a notary public cannot draft or answer questions as it pertains to the drafting of your legal documents.
On Saturday, March 14, 2015, a local married couple called GreenvilleNotary.com to have an insurance claim form from Encompass witnessed and notarized. Thanks to another coffee-house participant like me, another witness was available. We all want to thank Maggie for jumping at the chance to act as a witness today!
