New Blog Post: Notary for SC Health Care and Durable Powers of Attorney at @ghs_org

Both SC Health Care and Durable Powers of Attorney were signed by a patient, witnessed by a family member of another patient and Sonita M. Leak, then notarized by Certified Notary Public Signing Agent Sonita M. Leak at Greenville Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, March 4, 2015.   A family member called stating that the principal could not talk, therefore additional steps were needed to ensure the party’s competency.  When we are in doubt at a particular facility, and also just to ensure that the person signing ANY document has the capacity to sign, it is best to consult with the facility social worker, physician or chaplain.
