Notary Blog: The Tale of Two Vehicles

On Saturday, December 17th, both a local resident and the out-of-state resident party to one particular vehicle-related transaction for a North Carolina title called into the Notary line.  Ultimately, the parties agreed to do business without having their paperwork notarized.

Although we at are not attorneys, it is HIGHLY IMPORTANT to make sure you’ve covered your bases when conducting Interstate (state-to-state) transactions.  Because North Carolina vehicle registration and titling facilities require notarization of the seller’s signature, it’s best that if you are conducting any type of interstate deal, that you have the signature of the seller notarized before the title leaves their hands.

Different folks for different folks, because on the same day, an out-of-state resident party to ANOTHER vehicle-related transaction called into the phone lines for a different deal.  The parties of this particular transaction elected to have a notary present to notarize the signature of the seller.  It sometimes helps to have the signature of the buyer notarized as well.  This was the case in this transaction, as well.

The signing that did take place, occurred at Waffle House, 2185 Laurens Road, Greenville, SC 29607.  Thank you for the out-of-state residents who called for service!

Signing completed by Owner and State of South Carolina Notary Public Signing Agent Sonita M. Leak on Sunday, December 18, 2016.
