Notary for Affidavit on Behalf of Local Resident | The Village Grind

This was our first visit to The Village Grind, in the West End of 1263 Pendleton Street, Greenville, SC 29611. We tried the Lavender Mocha (which is very good, by the way) and shortly afterwards, notarized a couple of documents for a signer who needed to complete an FKA signature.

What are NKA and FKA signatures?  When a signer has their name listed a certain way on their valid, government-issued identification, the notary public can only identify them by the name that is presented.  Some signers, especially those who have experienced a divorce and name change therein, may go by a different name than from what is presented. FKA stands for Formerly Known As. NKA stands for Now Known As. An example of this is shown below:

ID reads Mary Ellen Benson, however the signers name is now Mary Ellen Graves and the document is in the signers ID name.

The signer can print and sign Mary Ellen Graves FKA Mary Ellen Benson -or- the signer can print and sign Mary Ellen Benson NKA Mary Ellen Graves.

Today’s assignment was completed by Certified Notary Public Signing Agent Sonita M. Leak on Tuesday, October 6, 2015.
